Digital Temperature Measurement

The Series 460 measures and displays accurate temperatures reliably and repeatedly. Sensor input types are selectable from a smooth, environmentally protected front panel keypad. Choose either Model 460, a 4-digit resolution meter, or Model 461, a higher resolution 5-digit instrument. With either model, you can add a variety of input options to tailor the instrument precisely to your needs.

For unmatched repeatability and accuracy, the Series 460 uses a new wide-range, integrating voltage-to-frequency conversion technique. An integral microprocessor generates periodic digital auto-zero readings for baseline verification.

Because temperature sensors emit very low signal levels, RFI and EMI often present the most serious obstacle to accurate readings. The Series 460 common mode rejection ratio exceeds 120dB, ensuring rejection of unwanted common mode voltages from ground loops that would otherwise make measurements unreliable. Outputs are also shielded, preserving data integrity all the way to your readout or printout.

Series 460 Options

Tailor the instruments with options to extend your measurement capabilities. Five option slots are available in each meter. The following options can be specified now, or added at any time in the future.

Multiple Inputs: Monitor as many as 24 inputs. The first multiple input card switches six channels of thermocouples or three channels of RTD or thermistor units. Maximum of 4 cards per instrument. Order Option: -20 (6 inputs of thermocouple); -21 (3 inputs of RTD/thermistor).

Math Expressions: Provides display of maximum, minimum, rate of change or timed average value of measurements. Front panel keys allow you to view the math value or switch back to view the actual measured value. Order Option: -04

Alarms: Each option card provides two alarms with separate limits and relays. Up to two cards can be specified. Any combination of high, low or ± values can be used to trigger the alarm, from either actual or math processed input. Trigger delay and a settable dead-band are included as standard. Order Option: -03 (order two for 4 alarms)

Analog Output: For output to recorders or other analog input instruments, you can choose from two fully isolated, linearized analog outputs. Both output types, 4-20mA or 0-10VDC can be fully scaled. Output can be assigned to direct measurements or to math values. Order Option: -06 (4-20mA); -05 (0-10VDC)

Digital Output:

Serial Output RS232C or 20mA interface sends display information in serial ASCII format. Includes user selectable transmission rates from 300 to 9600 baud, line feed, and carriage return. Order Option: -07

IEEE-488 Output. For integration with IEEE-488 Bus based measurement or analytical systems. Main indicator and other options can be programmed via the IEEE-488 Bus. (Requires two option slots.) Order Option: -08

Differential measurement. This card provides an additional input channel and the capability to display the difference (sT) between the two channels. This option card, -22, can be specified with thermocouple and voltage input models. The -23 option is specifically for use with RTD or thermistor configurations.

This function can be combined with other options: maximum, minimum, and average deltas when used with math capability, scaled analog output of differentials when used with analog output, and alarm points based on differential limits (Cannot be used in same indicator with -20 and -21 options. Not for use with current loop or strain-gage versions.) Order Option -22 for DELTA and 2 thermocouple or voltage inputs, -23 for DELTA and 2 RTD or thermistor inputs.
